Trump finally concedes defeat, will leave the office on January 20

0

Washington: United States President Donald Trump has finally conceded his defeat in the last year’s presidential election. He also agreed to hand over power to the newly elected President Joe Biden. The statement of Trump came after a joint session of the US Congress certified Democrat Joe Biden’s and Kamla Harris victory in the US Presidential Election held on November 3 last year. Trump also said that there will be an orderly transfer of power to Joe Biden on January 20, on Thursday.

Trump, however has still not stopped making accusations of rigging in the US presidential election. “Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th. I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted,” Trump said.

Trump added, “While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again!”

Trump has provoked his supporters to march on the Capitol to protest lawmakers’ actions, and later appeared to excuse the violent occupation of the Capitol by the mob, which forced its way inside, clashed with police and ransacked offices.

Authorities said that four people died during the violence. One woman was shot by an officer outside the House chamber, and three others died in “medical emergencies” during the occupation of the building, Washington, D.C., police said.

Trump backs out on his offer of mediating between India and Pakistan, calls the Kashmir issue “bilateral”

After repeatedly offering to help India and Pakistan find a common ground on the Kashmir issue, Trump has backed out on his offer, calling it a “bilateral issue”.

Trump had offered to mediate the issue on three different occasions in the past month. On all these occasions, the official US government office was in the favour of a bilateral settlement between the countries. Seems like the president and his office are on the same page again.

India has maintained its stance and has called the Kashmir issue as bilateral and scrapping of the article 370 an internal affair. Donald Trump had earlier claimed that India had asked for his help on the burning matter at hand. But the Indian government refuted the claim. Later the president’s office set the matter straight when it stated that the president had offered his help, India had not asked for it.

Prime minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to meet Trump in Biarritz, France on the side lines of the G7 summit. Even though India is not a part of the G7, the Indian premier was personally invited by the French President Emmanuel Macron to attend the summit.

After landing, Modi had his first bilateral meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Modi is also expected to take a walk and have conversation with the French President. Modi also addressed a session on biodiversity on the side lines of the prestigious summit. He highlighted India’s efforts towards reducing plastic, conserving water , harnessing solar energy and protecting flora and fauna for sustainable future.

On Sunday US President Donald Trump spoke with Indian prime minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan, with the aim of reducing the escalated tensions between the two nuclear-armed countries.
On Tuesday morning, Trump took to Twitter to post about the call where he said that he had talked to the premiers about “trade, strategic partnerships” and that he has also urged the two countries to work our their differences.

The relations between the two neighbors had always been sour. But the latest step taken by the Indian government to revoke article 370 in the state of Jammu and Kashmir has been severely criticized by Pakistan. In addition, Pakistan has cut all trade and transport ties with India.

The White House issued a statement on the phone call to the Indian premier. It said: “The two leaders further discussed how they will continue to strengthen US-India economic ties through increased trade, and they look forward to meeting again soon.”

On Trump’s call to Imran Khan, the White House said that the call was to “discuss the need to reduce tensions and moderate rhetoric” with India over Kashmir.

Is Trump’s Statement Against Modi On The Kashmir Issue Delusional?

A potential rising tension emerged when President of the United States of American stated that Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India wants him to meditate on the Kashmir issue which has seen struggling for 70 years as quoted by Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan.

India went into a zone of the maze when Trump on Monday claimed in front of Pakistan PM Imran Khan stating- “I was with Prime Minister Modi two weeks ago and we talked about this subject and he actually said, ‘Would you like to be a mediator or arbitrator?’ I said, ‘Where?’ He said, ‘Kashmir’. Because this has been going on for many, many years.’

Brad Sherman, the Democrat leader in the House of Representatives stated “ Everyone who knows anything about foreign policy in South Asia knows that India consistently opposes third-party mediation re Kashmir (sic). Everyone knows PM Modi would never suggest such a thing. Trump’s statement is amateurish and delusional.”

The Indian foreign minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar denies any kind of statement made by the PM of India. He stated- “ It has been India’s consistent position that all outstanding issues with Pakistan are discussed only bilaterally.”

The opposition party in India is demanding a statement from the Modi to clarify the remark made by Trump on air. This is not the first time a third party is offering service to be a mediator in the Kashmir issue though India has maintained the Kashmir issue as a bilateral one and no third party has any role. The external affairs minister said- “I would like to reiterate that India’s position is that all issues with Pakistan will be discussed only bilaterally, and no third party will be involved in mediation. Any engagement with Pakistan would require an end to cross-border terrorism.”

United States Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley told reporters of India Today- “It’s absolutely right that this administration is concerned about the relationship between India and Pakistan and very much wants to see how we de-escalate any sort of conflict going forward.”

“So I would expect that the administration is in going to be in talks and try and find its place to be a part of that and we don’t think we should wait till something happens. We very much think that we should be proactive in the way that we are seeing tensions rise and conflicts start to bubble up and so we want to see if we can be a part of that,” Nikki added.

White House lied to Ban a journalist after Tiff with Trump

The White House on Wednesday suspended the press pass of CNN correspondent Jim Acosta after he and President Donald Trump had a heated confrontation during a news conference.

It all began when Acosta asked Trump for his views on caravan of migrants heading from Latin America. When Acosta tried to follow up with another question, Trump said, “That’s enough!”. After that, a female White House aide unsuccessfully tried to grab the microphone from Acosta.

“President Trump believes in a free press and expects and welcomes tough questions of him and his Administration. We will, however, never tolerate a reporter placing his hands on a young woman just trying to do her job as a White House intern. This conduct is absolutely unacceptable

Sanders in her statement

Counter by the Journalists

Acosta shot back at the accusation of misconduct, tweeting “this is a lie”. His network and a number of Washington journalists who had been at the press conference voiced support for him.

CNN fully supports its employee. In a statement on Twitter, it directly said that “Secretary Sanders lied.” It also said that the press pass suspension was “done in retaliation for challenging questions.” Sanders “provided fraudulent accusations and cited an incident that never happened,” the US cable network said.

In announcing Acosta’s suspension, Sanders said, “The fact that CNN is proud of the way their employee behaved is not only disgusting, it is an example of their outrageous disregard for everyone, including young women, who work in this administration.”

The blame game has started. It is quite obvious that the reporter is banned for ‘messing with Trump’. On the other hand, Trump administration iterates that they are the supporter of ‘free press’. Really!

That’s hypocrisy at its best. Couldn’t answer the question, lost the calm, no worries, frame the reporter and ban him. Later, play the gender card and make a case. Another trench touched by the Trump administration. Rightfully called the ‘most disliked President of all time’

The mega Korean meeting : final end to war

The meeting which eagerly awaits the decisions on the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula , held on Friday 27th April. The two Korean leaders met for settling peace and harmony among the two neighbouring nations. Mr.Kim Jong Un became the first North Korean leader to step on their southern counterpart after the 1950-1953 Korean war when he met the South Korean President Moon Jae-in at the border village of Panmunjom.

Both were spotted shaking hands and smiling wide on greeting each other soon after Kim crossed the ankle high concrete slab that forms the demarcation line at Panmunjom. Mr. Kim then took Moon’s hand and led him back to North where they posed for a ceremonial photograph. Mr. Moon’s parents were North Korean refugees during the Korea war.
After meeting at the borderline, both went to the Peace house, the venue of the summit following an honour guard.

“A new history starts now. An age of peace, from the starting point of history,” Mr. Kim wrote in Korean in a guest book in the South’s Peace House before talks began.
During a private meeting in the morning, Mr. Kim told Mr. Moon he came to the summit to end the history of conflict and joked he was sorry for waking Mr. Moon up with his early morning missile tests, a senior presidential official said.

The two leaders’ close body language was also on display. They held each other’s hands and raised them into the air and hugged each other after signing their names on what they called the Panmunjom Declaration, a joint statement following their summit. They also stood at a podium together outside the Peace House and jointly announced the deal in front of officials and pool reporters.

Despite these two super nations, the conclusion of the summit is also early in vigilance by the U.S , China and Russia. Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump are said to meet on late May or June. Mr. Pompeo, who currently is CIA director, met Mr. Kim and had a conversation with him for more than an hour, that was more than a hello ,said Mr. Trump.

Divided UN on response to Syria’s use of Chemical Weapons

Russia on Tuesday urged the United States not to take military action against alleged chemical attack in Syria.

“I would once again beseech you to refrain from the plans that you’re currently developing,” Moscow’s envoy to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, told the US. He warned the Donald Trump administration that it would bear responsibility for any “illegal military adventure” in Syria.

Russia Vetoed the Proposal, again

Russia vetoed a US-drafted resolution on setting up a panel to identify the perpetrators of toxic gas attacks. It was the 12th time that Russia has used its veto power at the council to block action targeting its Syrian ally.

U.S. President Donald Trump said, "we're making a decision as to what we do with respect to the horrible attack that was made near Damascus...and it will be met forcefully."

Russia vs. USA

U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to take military action against Syria.

Speaking at a meeting with U.S. military advisers late on April 9, Trump said, “we’re making a decision as to what we do with respect to the horrible attack that was made near Damascus…and it will be met forcefully.”

“We can’t let atrocities like we all witnessed…we can’t let that happen in our world…especially when we’re able to because of the power of the United States…we’re able to stop it.”

“From what we hear now, I am afraid they are looking for a military option, which is very, very dangerous,” Nebenzia said. He also said that Russia had investigated the scene in Douma. It didn’t find any evidence that chemical weapons were used.

“There was no chemical-weapons attack,” Nebenzya said. Syria and Russia had invited the international chemical-weapons watchdog to inspect the site.

“Through the relevant channels we already conveyed to the U.S. that armed force under mendacious pretext against Syria — where, at the request of the legitimate government of a country, Russian troops have been deployed — could lead to grave repercussions,” he said.

Douma Attack

Activists from the Violations Documentation Center (VDC), reported two separate incidents of bombs. They believed to contain toxic substances being dropped by the Syrian Air Force.

The Syrian-American Medical Society said more than 500 people were brought to medical centres with symptoms “indicative of exposure to a chemical agent”.

It said this included breathing difficulties, bluish skin, mouth foaming, corneal burns and “the emission of chlorine-like odour”.

Around 42 – 60 people died in the attack. The number is set to rise as hundreds of families took refuge in the basements.
