Is Trump’s Statement Against Modi On The Kashmir Issue Delusional?

A potential rising tension emerged when President of the United States of American stated that Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India wants him to meditate on the Kashmir issue which has seen struggling for 70 years as quoted by Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan.

India went into a zone of the maze when Trump on Monday claimed in front of Pakistan PM Imran Khan stating- “I was with Prime Minister Modi two weeks ago and we talked about this subject and he actually said, ‘Would you like to be a mediator or arbitrator?’ I said, ‘Where?’ He said, ‘Kashmir’. Because this has been going on for many, many years.’

Brad Sherman, the Democrat leader in the House of Representatives stated “ Everyone who knows anything about foreign policy in South Asia knows that India consistently opposes third-party mediation re Kashmir (sic). Everyone knows PM Modi would never suggest such a thing. Trump’s statement is amateurish and delusional.”

The Indian foreign minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar denies any kind of statement made by the PM of India. He stated- “ It has been India’s consistent position that all outstanding issues with Pakistan are discussed only bilaterally.”

The opposition party in India is demanding a statement from the Modi to clarify the remark made by Trump on air. This is not the first time a third party is offering service to be a mediator in the Kashmir issue though India has maintained the Kashmir issue as a bilateral one and no third party has any role. The external affairs minister said- “I would like to reiterate that India’s position is that all issues with Pakistan will be discussed only bilaterally, and no third party will be involved in mediation. Any engagement with Pakistan would require an end to cross-border terrorism.”

United States Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley told reporters of India Today- “It’s absolutely right that this administration is concerned about the relationship between India and Pakistan and very much wants to see how we de-escalate any sort of conflict going forward.”

“So I would expect that the administration is in going to be in talks and try and find its place to be a part of that and we don’t think we should wait till something happens. We very much think that we should be proactive in the way that we are seeing tensions rise and conflicts start to bubble up and so we want to see if we can be a part of that,” Nikki added.

Chief minister HD Kumaraswamy kicked the hornet’s nest on Wednesday as he lashed out at employees of a thermal power plant. They were protesting in front of his cavalcade in Raichur district. He asked them why they approached him with their problems when they voted for the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Kumaraswamy was on his way to Karegudda village in Manvi Taluk of Raichur district, on the second leg of his village visit programme, when employees of the Yermarus Thermal Power Station protested in front of the bus in which he was travelling and shouted slogans against him.

An irate Kumaraswamy lashed out at the workers asking them why they had approached him for work when they voted for the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “I will ask the police to conduct a lathi charge. You vote for Modi but expect me to solve your problems,” he said.

Criticising the chief minister, BJP state general secretary CT Ravi told reporters here that these were very petty comments from the chief minister that weren’t befitting the office he held.

There is a difference between what one feels and what one should express in public. To understand the difference, one needs maturity and Kumaraswamy doesn’t seem to have it. Not only Kumaraswamy, Menka Gandhi also became infamous for such type of comments. It’s better to think twice before speaking in public. For politicians, they should think thrice or more than that.

Arun Jaitley opts out of Ministerial position due to bad health

Arun Jaitley, former Finance Minister and a BJP veteran, won’t become a part of PM Modi’s Cabinet. He wrote a letter to Narendra Modi, citing the reason for his decision.

The letter, released by Mr. Jaitley on social media, makes it clear that his health requires his full attention.

The new Council of Ministers is scheduled to be sworn in on Thursday evening.

Due to his ill health, Mr. Jaitley could not present the last budget — the honours was done by caretaker Finance Minister Piyush Goyal.

Mr. Jaitley was absent at the celebrations held at the party headquarters in New Delhi on May 23 when the results of the 17th general election were out, and as well as at the National Democratic Alliance’s parliamentary party meet on May 25.

Apart from handling the Finance and the Corporate Affairs Ministries, Mr. Jaitley had, at various stages in the last five years, handled Defence and Information and Broadcasting portfolios as well. While no word is out on who would get the Finance portfolio now, Mr. Goyal appears to be the front runner for the post as of now.

Mr. Jaitley is the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha.

Modi set to take oath on 30th May

After a landslide victory in the just concluded elections, Narendra Modi set to sworn oath for the position of Prime Minister on 30th May.

The ceremony is expected to be attended by several members of the NDA, including senior leaders of the BJP and also members of the opposition parties.

“The President will administer the Oath of Office and Secrecy to the Prime Minister and other members of Union Council of Ministers on 30 May at Rashtrapati Bhavan,” said an official statement from President House on Sunday.

The selection of council of ministers is expected to be interesting after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continued with its move for generation shift during the general elections.

Although there are speculations about the fate of some of the senior ministers who were part of the council of ministers earlier, it is possible that some of the ministers may not be repeated this time.

During the parliamentary party meeting of NDA on Saturday, Modi had categorically said that he would decide on the council of ministers and the newly elected NDA parliamentarians should not hope for a designation but prepare themselves to work as a law maker.

Nathuram Godse assassinated Mahatma Gandhi in 1948. The Nation got into a deep shock. It recovered after some time and the anguish decreased and the incident carved forever in the dark pages of the history of Independent India. The ruling party’s leader’s kept the debate alive and even provided the justification for the assassination. Though they cannot ridicule the existence of Mahatma Gandhi from the freedom struggle, they tried their best to relinquish his impact.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday hammered his party’s Bhopal Lok Sabha candidate Pragya Thakur for calling Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse a patriot, underlining that this kind of a language could not be tolerated in a civilised society. “She has apologised. That is a different thing. But in my heart, I cannot forgive her,” said PM Modi.

In an interview to TV channel NEWS 24, the prime minister said: “Everything that has been said about Godse and Gandhi is horribly wrong and fit to be hated and criticised. Those who say this should think a 100 times in future”.

Though PM is trying his best to build the image of BJP as Mahatma Gandhi loving party, the leader’s have something else on their minds. The BJP on Friday suspended its Madhya Pradesh spokesperson Anil Saumitra from its primary membership for calling Mahatma Gandhi the “father of the nation of Pakistan”.
In a Facebook post earlier in the day, Anil Saumitra wrote: “Mahatma Gandhi was the father of the nation but of Pakistan. India has had crores of sons like him, some worthy, some unworthy.”

Questioned about the post, Anil Saumitra told reporters, “Nobody known or unknown has the honour of being the father of India. So Mahatma Gandhi could be the father of the nation but of Pakistan. Everyone is proud to be the son of the Indian motherland.”

Mumbai Police arrests the doctor for ‘Anti-Pragya Thakur’ Posts

Just a few days ago, BJP was bearing the flag of Free Speech when its Youth Leader, Priyanka Sharma was arrested. Now, it has taken the U-turn and arresting the Homeopathic doctor for posting against Pragya Thakur. The only difference is, Pragya Thakur is not actively involved in the arrest.

The doctor, Sunil Kumar Nishad, was arrested on May 15, the police said. Based on activist Ravindra Tiwari’s complaints, an FIR has been registered against the doctor for deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings by insulting the religion or religious beliefs.

As per ANI, some of the doctor’s posts were allegedly against BJP’s Bhopal candidate Pragya Singh Thakur. On his Facebook page, Nishad – a resident of Vikhroli – identifies himself as a BAMCEF member. BAMCEF stands for The Minority Communities Employees Federation that was launched by BSP’s Kanshi Ram.

Senior inspector Vilas Jadhav told the English daily: “Based on the statement given by Tiwari, we registered an FIR under Section 295 (A) of the IPC (Deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs).”

Tiwari, who filed the FIR, told the daily that Nishad had been uploading posts – which he called as being against Hindus and Brahmins – for the past two years. He said that Nishad lives in the same locality as him and he had “tried to tell him through others that he should not put up such posts. He said if we had a problem, we should complain to the police.”

Tiwari claimed that a similar police complaint against the doctor was submitted about six months ago by another local resident.

Though it is up to the court to decide whether the post were as venomous as it is being told or just an exaggeration.

2nd Phase of Lok Sabha Polls recorded 67.84% turnout despite IED blast, Mob attacks, and EVM Glitches

Another phase of elections completed. This phase sealed the fates of candidates fighting for 95 seats across 11 states. A former prime minister and four union ministers are in the fray in this phase of Lok Sabha polls. The high turnout of 66% was quite strange as this phase, just like the first phase, was marred with violence, and inaccuracies in voting mechanism.

Voting was also held in 35 Assembly constituencies in Odisha and in 18 Assembly bypolls in Tamil Nadu. In TN, polling was held in 38 of the 39 Lok Sabha seats. The election in Vellore seat was cancelled on Tuesday by the EC following recovery of cash allegedly from an associate of a DMK leader recently. Besides Tamil Nadu, polling was held in 14 seats in Karnataka, 10 in Maharashtra, eight in UP, five each in Assam, Bihar and Odisha, three each in Chhattisgarh and West Bengal, two in Jammu and Kashmir and one seat each in Manipur and Puducherry.

Polling in Chhattisgarh witnessed violence with an ITBP jawan suffering minor injuries after Naxals triggered an IED blast in Rajnandgaon district.
Sporadic incidents of violence were reported in some areas of Bengal.

Voters in Uttar Dinajpur district’s Chopra under the Raiganj constituency reportedly put up a road blockade, complaining about the absence of central forces at the polling stations, the sources said. Police fired in the air and lobbed tear gas shells to control a mob, after stones were pelted at them and bombs were hurled by unknown persons in Chopra, a senior EC official in the district said. At least three persons were detained by police in this connection, he said.

Meanwhile, CPI(M) candidate from Raiganj Md Salim claimed that his car was attacked by unknown persons when he went to a polling booth at Islampur in Uttar Dinajpur.

Bihar recorded 25.6 per cent voting in five Lok Sabha seats till noon amid reports of EVM malfunctioning and poll boycott delaying start of polling in some booths. Voting was delayed due to EVM malfunctioning at a polling station at Masuria in Banka town, two polling booths under Kahalgaon assembly segment in Bhagalpur, and another two booths in Purnea.

Lok Sabha polls are being held in seven-phases for 543 seats on April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19, and counting will be on May 23.

Congress releases video clips on demonetisation, alleges it to be the biggest scam in the History

In a press conference, senior Congress leader, Kapil Sibal, presented the videos during demonetisation era. On the basis of those, he targetted the Government by naming it “the biggest scam in India’s history”.

“Demonetisation is the biggest scam in the history of India. It is sad that our agencies will investigate the opposition, but not those in power,” Sibal said during a press conference in New Delhi.

According to NDTV, Sibal highlighted that the currency exchange was conducted by a team of 26 officials from various departments of the central government. The detailed logistics was allegedly “controlled by” Bharatiya Janata Party chief Amit Shah. “Under it, currency from various ministers and business houses were brought in planes to Hindon air base from where it was taken to the Reserve Bank – at a charge of 35 to 40 per cent,” the NDTV report said.

Sibal also alleged that Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and IndusInd bank were involved in the exchange of banned notes. In order to support his claims, he showed the video, which he said, was made by a journalist. He then asked Enforcement Directorate (ED) to look into the matter. He later asked ED, CBI, and the government to arrest those responsible for the malpractices. Sibal later expressed his disappointment by saying that the bodies are partial towards the ruling party’s politicians.

Although this is not the first incident when opposition has presented evidences on large scale fraudulent during demonetisation. On 26 March, opposition stalwarts, Sharad Yadav, Ahmed Patel, Ghulam Nabi Azad, and Mallikarjun Kharge released the video of supporting their claims.

Note-ban was definitely a failure. According to RBI, more than 99% cash returned to the bank. Thus, the ‘surgical strike’ on black money didn’t eliminate anyone. But, this doesn’t mean that the Nation was that much clean. Food for thought is that why corrupt politicians and industrialists did not get caught. Thus, there was something fishy in the whole process. Let’s see if it could be revealed and proven before it get buried forever.
