Renaming Spree reached Andaman and Nicobar Islands as PM Modi renames 3 islands

0

Renaming spree has reached Andaman and Nicobar islands. This time it is in tribute to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. PM Narendra Modi renames 3 Andaman and Nicobar islands, The Ross Island renamed as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep, the Neil Island as Shaheed Dweep and the Havelock Island as Swaraj Dweep. Besides renaming, he also laid the foundation stone of Hope Town for Rs. 388 crore gas-based power plant.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister inaugurated a slew of development projects and laid foundation stones of several others related to energy, connectivity, education, tourism and health sectors.

PM Modi paid the visit on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the hoisting of the Tricolour by Bose here. Donning the Azad Hind Fauj (Indian National Army) cap, he addressed a public meeting at Netaji Stadium.

“When it comes to heroes of the freedom struggle, we take the name of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose with pride. The first Prime Minister of the Azad Hind government Subhash Babu had made India’s independence resolution on the soil of Andaman,” he said.

“The country draws inspiration from Andaman. That is why the government has issued a notification and I am proudly announcing that henceforth, Ross Island will be known as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep. The Neil Island will be known as Shahid Dweep and Havelock Island as Swaraj Dweep,” he said.

Quite surprising that the Government didn’t have to mould the history for its own benefit. On this day in 1943, Bose had suggested that Andaman and Nicobar Islands be renamed as Shahid and Swaraj Dweep respectively. During the World War II, the Japanese had captured the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Netaji came here as the Azad Hind Fauz led by him was an ally of the Japanese force.

“The historical event of 30th December 1943 has been completed today after 75 years,” he said.

Apart from this, PM Modi also visited the historical Cellular Jail where he meditated in homage at the cell where Veer Sawarkar was lodged.

Though this time the issue is not religious and can be associated with Bose’s wishes but still, the government can do much better than changing names.

PM Modi blames the previous Governments for failing to clean Ganga

0

It seems quite a routine for our Prime Minister to blame its predecessors in order to hide its failure. It doesn’t require any second thought that Namami Gange was a failure. But, in order to accept the mistake, our PM is busy in slamming its predecessors.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday accused previous governments of not being able to rejuvenate the Ganga despite spending thousands of crore of rupees and said to keep the river ‘nirmal’ (clean), the intentions also needed to be clean.

He said meaningful results are achieved when the government works with transparency and honesty.

“For maintaining the ‘nirmaltaa’ (cleanliness) of the Ganga, the power of money is not enough, clean intentions are also needed. We, with full honesty and clean intentions, have undertaken a campaign to clean river Ganga,” Modi said while inaugurating the ‘One District, One Product’ summit here.

“When the government works with transparency, honesty and public partnership, then the results are definitely meaningful,” he said.

“Otherwise, you all have been witness to a number of schemes from Ganga Action Plan to Ganga Basin Authority being made,” he added.

Citing a recent report on pollution in the Ganga, Modi said, “There has been a drop in pollution levels in river Ganga. As ‘Namami Gange’ campaign is moving ahead, the target of a clean and free flowing Ganga is becoming more clear. Aquatic animals including fish have started returning to the Ganga.”

Though the recent report suggests that only at Haridwar, Ganga can be considered clean. Don’t know which report our PM is referring to. Though a lot of restrictions have been put in order to clean the river, but no restriction has been placed on the tributaries which bring pollutants into the river.

The old habit of altering the past and blaming the former government is the trade-mark of BJP and the harsh reality of Indian politics. In order to work and undo the wrongs, the Government is keen to blame its predecessors for its own failures too.

In Himachal, The ‘Chowkidar’ became vocal and vowed to catch the ‘thieves’

0

PM Modi, while addressing his Jan Aabhar rally, in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh said that he won’t spare the ‘thieves’ (meant Congress). He bashed the loan waiver move by the Congress and said that it is meant to mislead the farmers. He also stressed on One Rank One pension scheme and blamed Congress for delaying it.

“For the last 40 years, this country’s soldier was demanding the One Rank, One Pension scheme. The then government fooled our soldiers and kept only Rs 500 crore for it. When we came to power, I called for the file and officers were left stunned,” said the prime minister.

“We realized there was Rs 12,000 crore required for it. It’s difficult for the government to take out Rs 12,000 crore in one go so I called soldiers and asked them to give it in four-five installments and they agreed. Today I am happy, we gave it in four installments,” he added.

To reply the ‘chowkidar’ jibes by the Opposition, he lashed them by saying that those who were in the habit of looting money were now afraid of the country’s ‘chowkidar’.

“Those who were in the habit of looting, they are now feeling afraid of the country’s ‘chowkidar’ and are now abusing him,” Modi said adding “this chowkidar is not prepared to spare thieves”.

The PM also praised the soldiers from the state, describing it as the land of brave army men who were ever ready to make the supreme sacrifice at the border. He further said that development projects worth Rs 26,000 crore were under way in various sectors in Himachal Pradesh.

Congratulating Jairam Thakur on completing one year as chief minister, Modi said, “Himachal Pradesh is like my home. I worked here for several years for the party’s organisational work.”

The prime minister also released a booklet on the achievements of the BJP government in the state. Later, he went through an exhibition put up by the state government to showcase the benefits of state and Centre-sponsored schemes.

The politicians are in election mood and shall not spare a single chance to gain the upper ground. Congress started it by waiving farmers’ loan. Though it is a very short-sighted decision but at least they delivered their promise. BJP on the other hand is making amends for the move Congress played and bringing out their other shortcomings. The tug-of-war will continue till the election.

Rahul Gandhi slams PM Modi over Snooping and Surveillance Order

0

Congress president Rahul Gandhi today targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over a Home Ministry order that gives sweeping powers to investigating agencies to monitor data on computers, and called him an “insecure dictator” who is trying to turn India into a “police state”.

“Converting India into a police state isn’t going to solve your problems, Modi Ji. It’s only going to prove to over 1 billion Indians, what an insecure dictator you really are,” Gandhi wrote on Twitter.

The new order will empower the Intelligence Bureau, Narcotics Control Bureau, Enforcement Directorate, Central Board of Direct Taxes, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, CBI, National Investigation Agency, Cabinet Secretariat (Research and Analysis Wing), Directorate of Signal Intelligence (in Jammu and Kashmir, North-East and Assam only) and the Delhi Police Commissioner to analyse private data. It also states that the subscriber, service provider or any person in charge of the computer resource is bound to extend all facilities and technical help to the agencies if they ask for data. If not, they can face seven years in jail and a fine.

According to the notification, the subscriber or service provider or any person in charge of the computer resource will be bound to extend all facilities and technical assistance to the agencies and failing to do will invite seven-year imprisonment and fine.

The Congress raised the issue in the Rajya Sabha, accusing the government of making the country a surveillance state. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley responded by saying that the Congress was playing with the country’s security, and maintained that the order was a repeat of an order issued by the UPA government less than a decade ago. “On December 20, the same order of authorization was repeated that was existing since 2009,” Mr Jaitley said.

The surveillance order is not as bad as it is portrayed. Though the privacy of the chats and data would be compromised in return of security. The short-comings could be that of the leakage of messages and vulnerability of information. There are chances that the government agencies might ‘help’ the ruling party but, this would endanger the integrity of these bodies. So, the notification is a nice step forward but how the government implements is itself an uphill task.

PM Modi Launched Projects Worth Over Rs. 550 Crore In Varanasi on his birthday

0

PM Modi visited his constituency Varanasi and celebrated his 68th birthday. On this occasion, he inaugurated projects like Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) for Puraani Kashi and Atal Incubation Centre at Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Besides that, he also announced projects worth over Rs. 550 crores.

One of the projects for which the foundation stones were laid was the Regional Ophthalmology Centre at BHU. This would bring Varanasi a step closer to become a medical hub.

Wrapping up his two-day visit to Varanasi, PM Modi said work done in the city is clearly visible.

“Our endeavour is to bring a transformation in Kashi, while keeping intact its traditions and preserving its age-old heritage. Otherwise you have been witness to the system, when our Kashi was at the mercy of Bholey (Bholey ke Bharosey), and it was left to its fate.”

PM Modi

The prime minister said only after Yogi Adityanath took over the state, that work is going on expeditiously. Earlier government deliberately tried to slower the pace as he mentioned that the Ring road project gathered dust before 2014.

In his 40-minute address, he said projects worth Rs. 550 crore have either been dedicated to the public or foundation stones laid today.

“This development work not only covers Varanasi but adjoining areas as well,” he said.

Striking an emotional chord with the audience, PM Modi began his speech in local dialect and chanted “Har, Har, Mahadev”, amid loud applause from the audience at the amphitheatre of BHU.

E-nam policy Of Prime Minister Modi Reality Check, Pass or Fail?

0

What is e-nam yojna?  This was an initiative by Prime minister of India launched on 14th April 2016 National agricultural market is a national online trading portal, it’s operation is coupled with Centre and State government. National agricultural market’s scheme is to unleash the true value of the production of farmers. Through this system the government brings the markets online. The government plans to return fair value of both crop and work to the farmers.

The process of this plan to work – As the farmer enters the market (Mandi) his entrance will be marked and registered as a user. During the registration the computers will record the arrival of his car and then will check the grain and the weight of the crop. The farmer’s crop will be checked scientifically and on all standards possible and will be fixed price per crop quality. Then will be put on computer purchase for the buyers with all the details of grain, online. Traders after bidding grains provide weighing of grain can be take the purchased crops and vegetables to market. Purchase of grain will be billed online, after the bill check the purchase of merchant’s grain will be taken out of the market.

Reality

Sound like a great plan. But here is certain facts about the e-nam policy there are many Mandi’s which were supposed to run on the portal and they also have every essential of the e-nam market plan still its a failure. The examples here are of couple of Mandi’s of Madhya Pradesh. Which were ought to be run on the. e-nam model but they are just on papers. After speaking to farmers at Bhopal’s karond Mandi, Raisen Mandi, Shore Mandi it can be seen all the essentials are rotting in it’s place. There is immense amount of money budgeted for the e-nam policy for each Mandi and the farmers well. The reasons behind the failure of pilot projects are the dis- interest on farmers and unfriendly interface of the farmers with the e-nam portal. It was seen farmers of the named Mandi barely are e-literate. They do not have their unique id passes with the also they don’t believe in it’s access and benefits.

All the evidence of the given media photo and video showing the success of e-nam are of specific and planted on the basis of future of e-nam. Whereas, the reality stands untouched with the benefits of e-nam.

The downfall of BJP lies in ideas up-bringing communal-ism. :Akhilesh

0

A little spice of caste-based politics by SP-BSP changed the flavor of the ‘Fascist’ politics by BJP. SP’s victory in the UP bypolls was not just about the support from BSP alone. Tactical moves made by Akhilesh in the past fortnight made the difference.

Ignore Congress and Form new Alliances

Akhilesh decided to maintain a safe distance from Congress to keep those party workers in good humor. The workers were unhappy over their alliance for the 2017 assembly polls. Since Congress showed no interest in renewing the pact, SP decided to go solo.

Small parties with hardly any presence throughout the state gave active support to SP. The only uniting motive was to defeat BJP. Then Akhilesh turned to those small parties which had strong hold on castes in the region of Gorakhpur and Phulpur.

Akhilesh teamed up with the Nirbal Indian Shoshit Hamara Aam Dal (NISHAD) Party and Peace Party. He then fielded Pravin Nishad from Gorakhpur. Pravin is the son of NISHAD chief Sanjay Nishad. The move proved a masterstroke as the Nishad community is the largest sub-caste of OBC in the constituency, comprising 3.5 lakh or roughly 17% of the total electorate.

In Phulpur, the party fielded Nagendra Pratap Singh Patel to focus on the sizeable chunk of Patels in the region.

Support from BSP

It was not for the nothing that Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav went personally to pay his respects to ‘buaji’ for her support to Samajwadi candidates in Gorakhpur and Phulpur Lok Sabha bypolls.

Due to the choice of candidates and being burned by the same ambition, BSP actively supported SP quite easily. This served two purposes for BSP. First, making its presence felt and second, not relinquishing its strong-hold on lower castes.

Dalits in Uttar Pradesh, who traditionally supported Mayawati, voted in big numbers for Modi in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, only to find his Hindutva brigade going berserk against them. Dozens of cases of violence against Dalits at the hands of upper castes continue to be reported. Thus, Dalits turned against the BJP.

Is this the arrival of wind of change in India?

It is quite a tradition that the party with the most seats in UP serves as the ‘Kingmaker’ in Indian politics. Though its too early to say but still it is clear that now Fascist politics by BJP is not enough. The defeat might end the euphoria which surrounded BJP’s office after winning in North-East. (Read more: Saffronisation Of North East:) This might be the beginning of the end of Modi-Yogi politics. With just 273 seats in the Lok Sabha,1 clear of the majority, there are chances of this end to come sooner.
