On Airforce Day, IAF debunked Pakistan’s claim of shooting down Sukhoi-30MKI by making it fly with the other aircrafts today. Pakistan, had claimed that it had shot down the aircraft in the air battle on February 27, a day after Indian jets had bombed Balakot to attack the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed.

Not only this, the aircraft, whose call name is Avenger 1, was piloted by the same two man crew who flew the Sukhoi-30MKI on the day of the battle. The IAF has said that Pakistan claims were a way to hide the loss it suffered by the destruction of its own American made F-16 which wing commander Abhinandan Vartaman had shot down before getting shot down. The wing commander was awarded the Veer Chakra for shooting down the F-16.

The Avenger1 aircraft flew in the Avenger formation. In the formation three nimble french origin Mirage-2000 flanked by two larger Sukhoi-30MKI, the extreme Sukhoi being the “Avenger1”.

Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria acknowledged the crowd today at the Hindon Airforce Station by saying-“We acknowledge the contributions of all personnel of commands, stations and units who silently and professionally contribute to the success of the airstrikes on the terrorist camps at Balakot earlier this year.”

According to a media report, Pakistan International Airlines flew around 46 flights sans passengers in the year 2016-17. The airline suffered loss of about 180 million Pakistani rupees.

The figures were revealed via an audit report, a copy of which is present with Geo TV. The report also said that 36 additional flights for Hajj and Umrah routes also flew without passengers and no enquiry was launched despite the administration being informed of the matter.

The revelation has caused more tension to grow in the country, as the economy of the country is already in a state of havoc. The country also faces the threat of a blacklist from the Paris-based anti-money laundering watchdog Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

Last month, the PIA had come in the news for laying off nearly 1000 surplus employees to reduce operational costs. This news will undoubtedly add a few more problems to their already overfilled bucket.

Trump backs out on his offer of mediating between India and Pakistan, calls the Kashmir issue “bilateral”

After repeatedly offering to help India and Pakistan find a common ground on the Kashmir issue, Trump has backed out on his offer, calling it a “bilateral issue”.

Trump had offered to mediate the issue on three different occasions in the past month. On all these occasions, the official US government office was in the favour of a bilateral settlement between the countries. Seems like the president and his office are on the same page again.

India has maintained its stance and has called the Kashmir issue as bilateral and scrapping of the article 370 an internal affair. Donald Trump had earlier claimed that India had asked for his help on the burning matter at hand. But the Indian government refuted the claim. Later the president’s office set the matter straight when it stated that the president had offered his help, India had not asked for it.

Prime minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to meet Trump in Biarritz, France on the side lines of the G7 summit. Even though India is not a part of the G7, the Indian premier was personally invited by the French President Emmanuel Macron to attend the summit.

After landing, Modi had his first bilateral meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Modi is also expected to take a walk and have conversation with the French President. Modi also addressed a session on biodiversity on the side lines of the prestigious summit. He highlighted India’s efforts towards reducing plastic, conserving water , harnessing solar energy and protecting flora and fauna for sustainable future.

On Sunday US President Donald Trump spoke with Indian prime minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan, with the aim of reducing the escalated tensions between the two nuclear-armed countries.
On Tuesday morning, Trump took to Twitter to post about the call where he said that he had talked to the premiers about “trade, strategic partnerships” and that he has also urged the two countries to work our their differences.

The relations between the two neighbors had always been sour. But the latest step taken by the Indian government to revoke article 370 in the state of Jammu and Kashmir has been severely criticized by Pakistan. In addition, Pakistan has cut all trade and transport ties with India.

The White House issued a statement on the phone call to the Indian premier. It said: “The two leaders further discussed how they will continue to strengthen US-India economic ties through increased trade, and they look forward to meeting again soon.”

On Trump’s call to Imran Khan, the White House said that the call was to “discuss the need to reduce tensions and moderate rhetoric” with India over Kashmir.

India has learnt today that after being requested by China, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has agreed to hold a closed door meeting to discuss the Kashmir issue.

Earlier, Pakistan had requested the world body on three different occasions to discuss the changed dynamics in Kashmir, but it’s requests were denied. But after China backed it up, the UNSC has agreed to accept the prolonging request. The closed door meeting is most likely to be held on August 16, but without Pakistan in the room.

The meeting is being held to discuss the abrogation of the article 370 in the state of Jammu and Kashmir which gave special rights to the state. The former state has now been turned into a union territory.
According to sources, earlier Pakistan was seeking for an open door meeting with having the right to speak. But when it’s plea was denied, China stepped up to support Pakistan’s cause.

India had earlier told the international community that revoking the article was an internal matter and had also advised Pakistan to accept it.

Pakistan to freeze assets and imposed travel ban on Masood Azhar

0

Just within days after UN designated Masood Azhar as a global terrorist, Pakistan banned Masood Azhar’s assets and future travels. Was Pakistan deliberately holding back from helping India?

In a notification issued Wednesday, the foreign ministry said, “the Federal Government is pleased to order that the Resolution 2368 (2017) be fully implemented” against Masood Azhar. The government directed officials to take actions “as appropriate for the implementation of sanctions” against the JeM chief, according to the notification. Masood Azhar is also banned from selling or purchasing arms and ammunition.

In a major diplomatic win for India, the United Nations designated Pakistan-based Masood Azhar as a “global terrorist” after China lifted its hold on a proposal by the US, the UK and France to blacklist him.
