Pakistan to freeze assets and imposed travel ban on Masood Azhar

0

Just within days after UN designated Masood Azhar as a global terrorist, Pakistan banned Masood Azhar’s assets and future travels. Was Pakistan deliberately holding back from helping India?

In a notification issued Wednesday, the foreign ministry said, “the Federal Government is pleased to order that the Resolution 2368 (2017) be fully implemented” against Masood Azhar. The government directed officials to take actions “as appropriate for the implementation of sanctions” against the JeM chief, according to the notification. Masood Azhar is also banned from selling or purchasing arms and ammunition.

In a major diplomatic win for India, the United Nations designated Pakistan-based Masood Azhar as a “global terrorist” after China lifted its hold on a proposal by the US, the UK and France to blacklist him.

Finally, Masood Azhar is now added to UN terrorists’ list

0

After a decade of continuous efforts, the United Nations finally decided to designate Masood Azhar as a global terrorist. It all happened because China softened it’s stand on the matter, and thus, did the right thing.

The committee on the Islamic State and Al-Qaeda announced in a press release the designation of Azhar over his organisation’s ties to Al-Qaeda.

India had been seeking Azhar’s listing since 2016, but the latest push came after the Feb 14 Pulwama attack on the Central Reserve Police Force in India-held Kashmir, which was claimed by the JeM.

The Indian resolution was backed by UNSC permanent members the US, United Kingdom and France. China had been halting the process by applying technical holds.

However, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Geng Shuang said today that Beijing removed its objections after the proposal was “revised”, following which Azhar’s listing went through.

It’s a big victory for India. It will pressurize the Pakistan government to act against the JeM chief. Let’s see how India pounce or attack on the opening it just got.

CRPF Jawan Injured by Grenade thrown at Camp in Pulwama

The violence in the valley doesn’t seem to stop. Militants fired a grenade at the camp, injuring a personnel of the force who was guarding the camp, officials said, adding that an under-barrel grenade launcher bullet was fired at the Tral-based camp of the 180th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force.

The recent times has seen an increase in the violence incidences in Pulwama. Earlier this month, four Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed in an encounter between militants and security forces in the Jammu and Kashmir district. Three security personnel were injured in the incident. In March, one of the three militants killed in an encounter in Kulgam district also had plans to carry out a suicide attack similar to the February 14 Pulwama terror strike. Luckily, their plan failed.

Gesture of support from France as it freezes JeM founder Masood Azhar’s assets

In a bright gesture of support, France approves sanctions on JeM founder Masood Azhar. It also freezed his assets in on it’s soil. Few days ago, they pledged to designate Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist at the United Nations. JeM claimed the responsibility of Pulwama attack.

“France has decided to sanction Masood Azhar at the national level by freezing his assets in application of the Monetary and Financial Code. A joint decree of the Ministries of the Interior, and Economy and Finance was published today in the Official Gazette,” said a press statement from the Government of France that was also placed on social media by the French Ambassador to India.

Apart from creating hurdles for financial transactions, the sanction from France will also help in stopping travel by Azhar and his known followers.

Such a nice gesture by France. It would definitely put pressure on Pakistan to act against the terror groups based in its territory. Since Pulwama attack, India has sought tough actions on terrorist groups and individuals like Azhar. This move would also induce support from nations which are not openly supporting India through actions.

It contained 27 gunny bags containing about 1,000 kg of potassium nitrate which they seized. Two persons – the driver and his helper have been arrested. Giving the open charge to army has worked. They gunned down the mastermind behind the Pulwama attack. Ghazi Abdul Rasheed, the mastermind behind the dreadful Pulwama attack, was among the three Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists killed in the encounter, which claimed the lives of four army personnel, including a major.

After receiving the orders to act freely, India armed forces intensified its operations to hunt down terrorists after the Pulwama IED attack on February 14.

Kamran alias Ghazi Rasheed was encountered by the Indian Army along with two other terrorists. A joint team of 55 Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF, and Special Operation Group launched a cordon and search operation early on Monday, after receiving inputs on terrorists taking refuge in the area.

The 32-year-old, a Pakistani national, was a close and trusted aide of JeM chief Maulana Masood Azhar. He was an Afghan war veteran and an IED specialist and joined the terror group in 2008. Reportedly, Ghazi had trained Pulwama suicide bomber Adil Dar and was commanding all Jaish operations in India. Ghazi was trained by the Taliban in Afghanistan and would train Jaish recruits in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

One AK-47 rifle and one pistol were recovered from the militants at the encounter site. Meanwhile, Pakistan violated ceasefire in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday night. A cordon and search operation by the security forces was also started in Krawora village of the Shopian district.

Though this won’t bring back our martyred soldiers but would at least bring some justice to their souls.

The nation has been drenched in mourning due to Pulwama attack. They are posting messages, planning candle walks, trying to collect funds for the family of the martyrs, etc. A fire has ignited in the hearts of us, the citizens of India, except few.

It’s the more than a week since Gurjar sat on the railway tracks.(source: https://www.amarujala.com/india-news/reservation-movement-in-rajasthan-continues-seventh-day-gujjar-leaders-to-take-decision-till-evening) Their demand is to get reservations. The state government kept it’s promise and gave them 5% reservation. Still they are immovable. The bill will take its own time to be approved the parliament as the total reservation is going to be more than 50% in Rajasthan. They demand it’s completion within 2 days.

We ‘Citizens of India’ can’t progress if we keep our individual insignificant matters ahead of the nation’s cause. Everyone conquered India just because of this factor. Gurjar are not new in this case. Keeping community before nation is their way of living.

We are already under the effects of terrorism. They are the enemies of the nation. What about the Gurjar who are not mourning and disrupting the lifeline of the nation? Who gave them the right to keep their community ahead of the nation’s cause? No matter how intense their situation is, it should not be greater than the Nation’s cause. They should stop their movement and let the government do its job.

We all know that united we stand and divide we fall. Right now, we have more important things to focus rather than deal with the reservation. Meanwhile, we appeal them to be sensitive and to keep the nation ahead of your community’s interest. Remember, reservations will exist only when we live.

Terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad has claimed responsibility for the attack. India appeals countries to list Masood Azhar a designated terrorist. Cabinet Committee on Security to meet tomorrow. Meanwhile, Indian government also removed Pakistan’s tag of the Most Favoured Nation (MFN).
