Newbuzzindia: The Indians are trying to get aware of the political scene in the US more than ever before. For a fraction, it can be looked towards as some really interesting stuff is being created by the two candidates, Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton. But in larger part, it is because of the relations between America and India have reached new heights today. Trade between the two countries which were nominal before have extended up to $100 billion. After Russia, The US is India’s second-largest supplier of defence equipments. Favour of India on International platforms and international issues to brought them near to us. Frankly today, there is no more vital relationship for New Delhi other than this. So as the people of America elect the candidate of their choice, Indians will have a sizeable stake in the outcome. Who would be better for India, between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, ?
What we as Indians still feel that Mr Bush was certainly better than Mr Obama. But that can’t be used as a logic in this election. For one thing, Mr Trump is hardly a typical Republican. He is first a businessman and has certainly been in the positions that conflict with the Republican ethos, especially in the realm of foreign policy. He has surrounded himself with foreign-policy advisers who can humanly be described as non-professionals. This means a President Trump would likely struggle to fill key positions in his Cabinet with the kind of talent that would reassure India, and the world, that American foreign policy is in safe hands. We too have seen how much he favours Prime Minister Modi, but for a country with such an ethical and moral background, there is a larger, philosophical question,of how can a man who boasts about being a sexual predator, routinely lies about his wealth, and espouses racist, xenophobic views, be good for India?
Mrs Clinton’s definition of power is doubtful,considering, how she has defended some dictators, like Egypt’s dictator Mubarak, while tremendously attacking others, like Libya’s Muhammad Gaddafi. Her work as the Secretary of the US during Obama’s first tenure got mixed reviews. But she has demonstrated a consistent streak, one that allows hope for a grown-up assessment of American interests. She talks of uplifting the people and sectors that have degraded since years. She has always been firm with opinions, be it Economy, IR or Terrorism. And those interests dictate the continuation of good relations with India. Plus Bill Clinton has always paved paths for betterment of Indo-American relations and you get the rest in your head. Don’t you.?
